Quercetin is the dried flower buds extract of Sophora Japonica L. It is yellow free flowing powder with characteristic aroma and taste. Widely used in pharmaceutical, health care products fields.
Quercetin is widely distributed in the plant kingdom. It is a flavonol compound with various biological activities. Its chemical formula is C15H10O7. Quercetin is widely found in the stem skin, flowers, leaves, buds, seeds and fruits of many plants, mostly in the form of glycosides, such as rutin, quercetin, hypericin, etc. Quercetin can be obtained by acid hydrolysis. Among them, the content of quercetin is high in sophora buds and onion. Quercetin rutin (rutin) is widely distributed in nature with high content, such as sophora buds content up to 20%. Rutin was extracted from sophora buds and then hydrolyzed with acid to produce quercetin. The main extraction methods of rutin include alkali extraction and acid precipitation, organic solvent extraction and impregnation, among which alkali extraction and acid precipitation are the most practical. Use 0.05% NaOH solution to boil for 20min, filter while hot, extract the same method for 4 times, get rutin alkali water solution, add acid to precipitate it, after filtration, add acid to hydrolyze it to get water insoluble quercetin, filter, wash, dry to get quercetin solid.
