Ginkgo Biloba Extract is the dried leaf extract of Ginkgo biloba L. It is a light yellow-brown free flowing powder with characteristic aroma and bitter taste. Widely used in medicine, health products, food additives, functional drinks, cosmetics fields.
Ginkgo biloba L, also names ginkgobilobal, yajiaotong, etc. It is a deciduous tree, the height can reach 40m with erect trunk and pale bark, usually cultivated by artificial planting. The leaves of Ginkgo Biloba are sector-shaped and the color appear green and golden in different seasons, it normally harvest in autumn when the leaves are still green then timely drying to storage. Ginkgo Biloba mainly growns in Guangxi, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Henan, Shandong, Hubei, Liaoning, Jiangsu and other places in China, Japan and South Korea are also cultivated; however, ginkgo was also grown in Europe around 1730. It is considered to be one of the oldest trees, it has orange-yellow fruit that blooms in May and ripens in October. It grows slowly and lives for a very long time, even thousands of years.
Ginkgo biloba leaves have a wide range of biological activities and contain a variety of chemical components, including flavonoids, terpenoids, polysaccharides, phenols, organic acids, alkaloids, amino acids, steroid compounds, trace elements and so on.
