Latin name: •Scutellaria baicalensis Specification: • 10%~98% Baicalin (HPLC) Part Used: • The roots of Scutellaria baicalensis Certification: • cGMP, ISO22000, HACCP, FSSC22000, Kosher, Halal | |||||||||
Skullcap Extract is the dried root extract of Scutellaria baicalensis, it is a free flowing powder with characteristic aroma and bitter taste, specifications is 10%~98% Baicalin by HPLC. Widely applied in pharmaceutical, health care products, dietary supplements fields.
Baicalin is a kind of flavonoid compound extracted and isolated from the dried root of Scutellaria baicalensis, a dicotyledon plant. It is a light yellow powder with bitter taste at room temperature. Insoluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, slightly soluble in chloroform and nitrobenzene, almost insoluble in water, soluble in hot acetic acid. When ferric chloride appears green, when lead acetate produces orange precipitate. Soluble in alkali and ammonia, yellow at first, and soon turn black brown. It is relatively stable under dilute acid conditions. For example, hydrolysis will not occur in 2% sulfuric acid solution, but when the acid concentration is increased and the temperature is raised to 110℃, glucuronic acid and baicalin (baicalin) can be hydrolyzed. Baicalin has significant biological activity, has antibacterial, diuretic, anti-inflammatory effects, but also can absorb UV, remove oxygen free radicals, inhibit the generation of melanin, so it can be used in medicine, but also can be used in cosmetics, is a good functional plant extract raw material.
