1. Description of Astragalus Root Extract

Astraglus Extract is the dried root extract of Astragalus membranaceus, with specification 5%~98% Astragaloside IV. Widely used in pharmaceutical, health products, supplements fields.


Astragalus is a perennial herb, 50-100 cm tall. Taproot thick, woody, often branched, grayish white. Stem erect, distally much branched. Flowering from June to August, fruit from July to September. Mainly grown in Shanxi, Gansu, Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi. Harvest in spring and autumn, remove fibrous roots and root heads, dry and store. Astragalus raw materials are cylindrical, some have branches, the upper end is thicker, 30-90cm long, 1~3.5cm in diameter. Astragalus surface is light brown or light brown, with irregular longitudinal wrinkles or grooves. The material is hard and ductile, not easy to break. The outer part of the skin is yellowish-white, the interior is light yellow, with even texture and cracks. The smell is light and the taste is slightly sweet. Astragalus is not only a commonly used Chinese medicine in medical treatment, but also an affordable tonic and condiment, which can be used for cooking meat, soaking wine and cooking dishes.
